How the calculation works
The calculator works in the order you type, like a desk calculator: 2 + 3 × 4 gives 20, because it adds 2 + 3 first and then multiplies by 4. To follow the math rule, with multiplication before addition, do 3 × 4 first and then add 2.
Results are rounded to up to eight decimal places.
Everyday examples
- Split a $187.50 bill among 3 people: 187.5 ÷ 3 = 62.5.
- 15% off $240: 240 × 0.85 = 204.
- An 8% raise on $1,500: 1,500 × 1.08 = 1,620.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a percent key?
No. To get X% of a value, multiply by the number and divide by 100 (15% of 240: 240 × 15 ÷ 100 = 36). For a discount, multiply by 1 minus the rate (240 × 0.85); for an increase, by 1 plus the rate (240 × 1.15).
Is the history saved?
It stays visible while the page is open. Reloading or closing the page clears it. No calculation leaves your browser.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The buttons are sized for touch, and on a computer you can also use the keyboard.
