Online Scientific Calculator
Our scientific calculator is the ideal tool for students, engineers, and professionals who need to solve complex mathematical operations directly from the browser.
Available Features:
- Trigonometry: Sine (sin), Cosine (cos), and Tangent (tan).
- Algebra: Square root (√x), Power (x² and xʸ).
- Logarithms: Base 10 (log) and Natural (ln).
- History: Quick access to your past calculations.
How to use the functions
Functions such as sin, cos, tan, log, ln, √x, x², 1/x and +/- act on the number on the display: type the number, then press the function. For powers with any exponent, press xʸ between the base and the exponent: 2 xʸ 10 = 1,024.
Two-number operations (+, −, ×, ÷ and xʸ) run in the order you type. For long expressions, solve them step by step.
Degrees or radians
The DEG/RAD button switches the angle unit, and the current mode shows in the corner of the display. In degrees, sin(30) = 0.5. In radians the same angle is π/6: type π ÷ 6, press =, then sin.
Worked examples
- Diagonal of a 16 by 9 screen: 16, x², +, 9, x², =, √x. Result: 18.36.
- Logarithm: 1000 then log gives 3.
- Compound interest: 1.1 xʸ 10 = 2.59, so $1 becomes $2.59 in 10 years at 10% a year.
Frequently asked questions
Why does tan(90°) show an error?
Because it does not exist: the tangent grows without limit near 90°. The calculator also shows an error for the square root of a negative number, log or ln of zero or a negative number, and 1/x of zero.
What is the difference between log and ln?
log is the base-10 logarithm (log 100 = 2). ln is the natural logarithm, base e, about 2.718 (ln e = 1).
Is the history saved?
It stays visible while the page is open and is cleared when you reload. No calculation leaves your browser.
